Mt Kilimanjaro stands astride the equator like a sentinel above the African plains. Snow capped, it is a beacon for adventurers, to see what really is on top of this magic mountain.
No Roads Expeditions takes 4 different tracks up the mountain. As usual we shy away from the tracks that are frequented by most trekkers. One such track is the Marangu track or Coca Cola route. of the 25000 trekkers that try Kili each year, 80% go up Kili via this route. As such the track is well worn and over crowded at times. No Roads DOES NOT use this track.
We use less frequented and in many ways, far more beautiful and interesting approaches to the summit.
The 4 tracks we use are:
Lemosho Shira Track, the longest and and least frequented track on the mountain. This track provides you with not only an insight into the entire Kilimanjaro massif but also the best chance of summiting. This also gives you a chance to sleep in Kili's crater at over 5600m above sea level.
Rongai Track from the Kenyan side is also rarely used with a chance to see wildlife at the lower slopes
Machame Track or the Whisky Route is a dramatic southern approach to the summit.
The Umbwe Track is also a southern route rarely used but possibly the quickest way up the mountain to the main Barafu track.
