OVERVIEW
There
really is nothing like giving back. That's right, in this specially
crafted expedition you will visit the habitats of two of the greatest
creatures on earth and at the same time help protect these
environments for generations to come.
No Roads Expeditions has teamed up with the Big Fish adventure race team to bring this awesome trip to you. Big Fish are a highly motivated group of people who love travelling and love giving back to communities. In 2008 they put together a community based trip along the Kokoda Track raising enough finds to purchase the first 3 eco toilets for the Track and installing one at Kagi Village. In 2009, they helped run our first Orangutan expedition and in 2010 they continue the tradition by returning to Kalimantan to continue supporting the Australian Orangutan Project.
Our first destination will be to the home of the Orang-utan in Tanjung Putting National Park. We will have an opportunity to visit this amazing habitat aboard our very own klotok or river boat.
The Tanjung Puting National Park is home to rare and interesting species including the Proboscis monkey and the false gavial, a strange looking crocodile.
But it is the Orang-utan that most people come here to visit. It's sheer beauty and passive demeener endears one of our closest relatives to our hearts. We will see both wild and rehabilitated Orang-utans and have the opportunity to get close to these magnificent creatures.
While we will have the opportunity to see these amazing creatures we will also be helping their plight. Through this expedition we will be delivering much needed supplies to the Orang-utan orphanages, each participant will be adopting an Orang-utan and we will be buying land that ensures the habitat of the Orang-utan remains intacked.
If you are interested in adventure and giving back to the world at the same time, then you have got to be part of this expedition.
