OVERVIEW
The Kokoda Track was the scene of bitter fighting in 1942 as the Japanese advanced towards Port Moresby. Many Japanese and Australian soldiers died along the Track, both in battle and from malaria. As interest in Australia's cultural identity and recent history grows, walking the Kokoda Track has become a rite of passage for a new generation of Australians.

This abridged Kokoda Expedition will take you to the site of one of the bloodiest and for many most important battlefields along the Kokoda Track, Isurava.

For 4 days Australian soldiers, many of them just boys, held off what was at the time the greatest jungle fighting machine on the planet, the Japanese army. This unstoppable war machine had taken all before it and had never witnessed defeat until the Kokoda Track. While Isurava eventually fell to the Japanese, it provided a much needed delay for allied forces to reinforce further down the Track.

Our expedition will fly to the Track's namesake, Kokoda, where we will see and feel what went on in this small village. From there we will trek to Deniki that overlooks the Yodda Valley and down to Kokoda village itself. From there we will trek to Isurava where we will spend the night before returning to Kokoda the same way.

This expedition gives those that have limited time or fitness an opportunity to see what the Kokoda Track is all about.

All food, equipment and guides (including an Australian guide) are provided. You only need to bring your personal gear and bedding.

Our food includes coconut milk curries, vegetarian pastas, fried rice, prawn crackers, damper etc. We use no rehydratable vegetables and we don't supply baked beans, just delicious and nutritious meals.

Our Porters are well paid, well fed and motivated to provide you with a great experience. They set up tents, boil water, help you along the Track and at night, sing songs. On our trek you will sleep in village guest houses for half the nights along the Track. The other nights involve camping in locations where there are no villages (bush camps).
