Mount Feathertop Winter
Mount Feathertop is Victoria's second highest peak, and arguably the most spectacular! It is commonly used as a training hike for those heading off on bigger trips it can usualy be summited and back to the car in a day. In winter though, Mount Feathertop becomes a whole different experience. Alpine areas require a huge range of skills and experience to be safely navigated during the winter months, we believe that anyone should have the pleasure of experiencing a place like this, which is why we use our experience to enable you to get out there safely! After hiking up the classic Bungalow Spur, we'll camp out in the snow, in a nice sheltered spot, but be based at a site with a large hut to cook and relax in comfort in the evening. The following day, we'll start early, make our bid for the summit, and then head all the way back down.
To get the most out of our weekend, we'll meet in Harrietville at your leisure on the Friday evening, we will be briefed and have our gear checked, before settling in for a night in the Iconic Snow line Hotel. After breakfast we'll be transferred up to Mount Hotham and the start of the Razorback trail. We'll hike the 11kms along one of Australia's most stunning ridge lines before camping in a sheltered nook, just below Feathertop's summit. An early start Sunday will see the sun rise from the summit (weather dependant) and a shorter hike down Bungalow Spur back to Harrietville.
