Sumatra Adventure Plus
So what does the "PLUS" stand for in our Sumatra Adventure Plus? It means we will take you beyond the jungles of Bukit Lawang and take you to the summit of Gunung Sibayak and to the shore and islands of Lake Toba, site of one of the single most devestating volcanic eruption ever. That's what the "PLUS" stands for.
- Trek through the jungle with an overnight stay in the Orangutan's habitat
- Tubing in Tangkahan and Bukit Lawang
- Visit Lake Toba site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions leaving an enormous lake 100km long x 30km wide
- Trek to Gunung Sibayak
- Visit a working elephant station near Tangkahan
If you want a little more adventure in Sumatra then our Sumatra Adventure Plus may be for you. You will travel from Medan to Tangkahan to see a working elephant program help protect the forests of Gunung Leuser National Park. From there we head to Bukit Lawang to explore another part of this immense park in search of the sumatra orangutan. For most that would be enough, but not those who are looking for a bit more.
We will then head towards Lake Toba. Before arriving there, we will trek up a small volcano (Mt Sibayak) to watch the sun rise over this beautiful landscape and then back down to the shores of Lake Toba, site of one of the biggest volcanic eruption ever (it is thought the eruption brought the human race to the brink of extinction).
